LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories and Millersville University Commemorate the First Anniversary of their Collaboration in Establishing an Innovative Biotech Incubator Site.
LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories and Millersville University are approaching the one-year milestone of their partnership to create a Life Science incubator at Millersville’s campus. The laboratory is set to commemorate its first anniversary on March 31, 2024. LAMPIRE is a privately held international biotech life science company that produces biological reagents used in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, the company is active in the community, supporting life science education programs and workforce development at both the local and state levels.
“From our first meeting, it was clear to me and our faculty that the LAMPIRE Leadership team could be a special partnership that creates incredible educational opportunities for MU students,” says Dr. Marc Harris, dean of the College of Science and Technology at Millersville. “LAMPIRE has a core value of generational educational development in life sciences, which resonates with their team.”
Since its inception, the on-campus lab has offered students hands-on industry experience in the laboratory, as well as opportunities for jobs and internships. Dr. Donna Cartledge-Wolf, the Manager of Scientific Development at LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories, is leading a team of lab technicians, comprised of Millerville University students, in conducting multiple advanced projects on campus.

Over the course of the year, there have been several opportunities for Millersville’s biology, chemistry, and biochemistry faculty to collaborate with LAMPIRE scientists on education programming, such as guest lectures, site visits, and colloquium talks. The Economic Development Company of Lancaster and Lisa Riggs were instrumental in bringing Millersville University and LAMPIRE together. The University was chosen for the partnership because of its location and access to the student and alums workforce.

LAMPIRE Vice President of Operations and Quality, Gary Klinger, completed his studies at the biology department of Millersville in 1996. Since his graduation, he has dedicated his career to making a positive impact in the field. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, he has been able to drive innovation and efficiency in the life science community. Gary's commitment to excellence and passion for science have been instrumental in shaping his successful career and making him a respected leader in the industry.
