Bristol’s Action Manufacturing to Received the Regional Small Business Contracting Award from the SBA
On Tuesday, June 25, Regional Administrator John Fleming, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)‘s Mid-Atlantic Region and SBA Eastern Pennsylvania District Director Steve Dixel presented the federal agency’s Regional Prime Contractor of the Year Award to Action Manufacturing president and CEO Sean Gibbs during a brief ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Bristol, PA., honoring Action Manufacturing’s role in growing our economy, creating and sustaining jobs in the community, and supporting our national defense through federal contracting.
Action Manufacturing is a family run business with local roots established by the Mattia Family in 1946. The firm has over300 employees. The company’s two divisions serve the U.S. government, friendly foreign governments, and numerous domestic and international commercial firms.
Action manufactures precision ordnance products including fuzes, explosives, electronics, and a variety of defense items for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines. Action produced over four million M739A1 fuzes over the last 10 years, with delivery remaining early or on time on every military order. These fuzes are used in electro-mechanical rocket, missile, artillery, mortar, and tank devices for the Department of Defense and domestic prime contractors. Action manufacturing is a full-service R&D lab that takes concepts to prototypes to production.
