SPOTLIGHT ON BUSINESS

Bioplast Manufacturing, L.L.C., Recently Relocated to Bucks County from NJ

Take a rapidly growing injection molding company, getting squeezed like sardines at their previous New Jersey location, and the availability of much larger warehouse space in Bristol, Bucks County, and you have the perfect recipe for relocation! Bioplast Manufacturing is a premier injection molding company that specializes in producing laboratory disposables and plastic ware for the scientific and biotech communities, products such as pipette tips, micro-centrifuge tubes, and fly-vials. Bioplast manufactures laboratory disposables purchased by distributors who deal directly with the end users … the scientists and the researchers who work on the bench with the products. Manufacturing plastics locally for this industry provided Bioplast a major advantage since products as described are often manufactured and shipped in from great distances … the west coast of the United States, South America, Malaysia and China to name a few.

128 Wharton Road, Bristol PA.What started in 2009 with two employees, two small injection presses, one semi-automated assembly machine and a used, very manual (and very old!) shrink wrapping machine, has grown exponentially in size. Bioplast’s original facility in NJ was 2,640 square feet with their relocation in February 2014 to 128 Wharton Road, Keystone Industrial Park in Bristol, PA now provides them 14,300 square feet of space within a shared warehouse. This additional space was vital in the growth of Bioplast. They now have 15 employees, eight injection presses ranging in size from 50Ton to 280Ton. They intend to hire an additional five employees in 2014, and the three-year future plan calls for an additional five injection presses while tripling their number of employees. Their full line of pipette tips now includes two high-speed assembly and automation units, another off-line assembly and automation platform, and a high-speed shrink-wrapping and packaging station. Two additional product lines are currently in the works, and the sky is the limit for this growing company in this ever-expanding field.

With BCEDC’s assistance, Bioplast utilized the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund (MELF) to fund their new equipment purchase.

Injection press in molding facility.Bioplast is also ISO 9001:2008 certified, undergoing a 16-month evaluation process in 2012 that included the development of a formal management system (QMS) and culminated with a two-day formal assessment audit by the BSI Group. Bioplast’s Quality Management System-ISO 9001:2008 Certification No. FM 589876 is ANAB, BSI and IAF accredited. Achieving the ISO 9001 certification was attained through the implementation of continuous improvement practices that ensure a client’s product meets their requirements. The practices put in place also confirm Bioplast’s compliance and commitment to achieving and surpassing industry-respected practices.
