This broad range scope of services are provided for projects ranging from the moving or installing of a single small machine to turn-key installations or relocations of entire process lines or manufacturing plants. As a single-source contractor, additional value is provided through warehousing, export crating/packaging, machinery transportation and freight forwarding services. A&A services all industries in the Mid-Atlantic region and nationally such as general manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food, chemical, steel, technology, defense, aerospace, pulp & paper and others.
Everyday jobs include moving machinery and equipment within plants, unloading and installing new machines or removing old ones. We typically have multiple crews engaged daily on small machine moves. A recent example of a larger machinery moving project was the dismantling of an entire tissue mill in Lincoln, Maine for reinstallation in Crabtree, Ontario. This ten week project required documenting and match-marking the tissue machine and related equipment, then disconnecting, disassembling, crating or skidding and loading these components onto 82 trucks. The heaviest single machine component was a 16’ diameter roll weighing 174,000lbs., which was removed through the roof and loaded onto a special transport.
On the heavy rigging side, A&A executes projects where the items being moved are either very large, very heavy, or the movement of these items presents significant technical or logistical challenges. This work can require specialized equipment and techniques. A recent example includes the installation of a large 350,000 pound turbine generator into a power plant in Ogdensburg, New York with only two inches of clearance through the wall opening. A less recent example, though one of local interest to those that may remember it, was the 1997 relocation of the old Constellation aircraft that was located Penndel, Pennsylvania and relocated to the Dover Air Force Base Museum.
A&A Machinery Sales, Inc., a sister company, is a stocking, new and used machinery dealer. A&A provides professional asset and investment recovery and liquidation services for clients including machinery auction services. A&A’s knowledgeable team has extensive resources and can provide sourcing for both new and used machinery and equipment. They are members of the Investment Recovery Association (IRA) and certified through the Machinery Dealers National Association (MDNA).
A&A Machinery Moving, Inc. is a family-owned business with local roots. When Albert Lykon, owner of A&A, was a boy, he worked at Lykon Pizza in Levittown, PA. Founded by his parents, father Andy and mother Ramzy.
In 2000, the company built a 100,000 square foot facility on an eight-acre former USX property in Morrisville, PA. This facility, designed and constructed by A&A, has 12 indoor loading docks, large grade-level doors, warehousing areas, crane bays to 35 ton capacity, separate truck/trailer and lift truck maintenance shops and a crating/skidding area. A&A also obtained two additional leased facilities within half a mile of the Morrisville facility to accommodate growth in the machinery warehousing market.
Today, A&A has a nationwide reputation for being able to do the difficult while providing superior service, safety, and value in the rigging, millwright and machinery moving industries. One thing has never changed at A&A: the pride in quality work and attention to detail and safety.
In the beginning of 2017, A&A launched their new website offering an enhanced platform for all A&A customers. The newly designed website offers simple navigation and easy access to essential information and services provided by A&A Machinery. With the addition of a clean and updated inventory design for the A&A Machinery Sales section, visitors are better able to see and buy both new and used machinery and equipment from the inventory and also see changing “weekly hot deals” and new inventory arrivals. An added web form helps potential sellers more easily provide information on their used machinery and equipment being offered for sale. This area of the website has seen significantly increased traffic from machinery buyers and sellers.
A&A is a proud member of the BCEDC and earnestly supports the mission of BCEDC to promote and foster the local business climate. A&A secured low interest financing through BCEDC in 2000 to finance the construction of their new facility in Morrisville.
