BCEDC 62nd Annual Event
BCEDC held its Annual Event on September 29th at the Northampton Valley Country Club, Richboro, in the Crystal Ballroom. This year’s event was focused on networking and getting reacquainted after a year hiatus.
The Bucks County Commissioners addressed over 130 attendees with their insights about the impact of Covid on the economy, social issues and employee relations as well as the political climate.
Commissioner Marseglia spoke about addressing the future of employee relations and how businesses large or small need to adjust to the demands of current and new hires. How it is important to be willing to communicate clearly and transparently. Times have changed and management needs to adapt to hire and retain employees to be fulfilled and productive.
Commissioner Havrie explained how the county had partnered with various local organizations to support Bucks businesses, struggling through the pandemic. Also, that the county will be doing more through the Bucks Business Recovery Grant program.
Commissioner DiGirolamo addressed today’s political climate and the lack of State and Federal government to work together and compromise on the issues at hand. Nowadays compromise has been lost but is much needed. He mentioned how he and his fellow Commissioners work well together in Bucks using common sense and compromise.
Between 2019 & 2020, BCEDC awarded 16 loans through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA), BCEDC’s Business Builder Loan Fund (BBLF) and Diverse Business Financing Initiative (DBFI) investing in over 20 million dollars in Bucks County economy and retaining/creating over 400 jobs.
Several loan recipients who attended received their plaques during the award presentation. The companies were Times Publishing Newspapers Inc, Castle Valley Mill, and Agile Pharma Labs. The banks were Penn Community Bank and Univest Bank & Trust Co. The banks participate in the loan programs as an additional source of funds.
